AIM Mail Center in Sacramento Teams with Natomas Kiwanis

To Help Single Moms Spread Holiday Cheer

NATOMAS, Calif. (December 29, 2009) – The AIM Mail Center serving the Natomas area of greater Sacramento made a big difference in the lives of two local families this holiday season. In conjunction with the Kiwanis Club of Natomas, store co-owners Dan and Susan Trescott delivered five bags of gifts to each of the families. Both families are headed by single mothers, one of whom was recently laid off from her job.

The project started when the Trescotts received a letter at the store addressed to Santa Claus from one of the mothers. Seeing the letter reminded them that some families in the area might appreciate assistance, especially in a year when so many have experienced significant economic challenges. As members of the local Kiwanis club, they turned to the group to help realize that goal. Their initiative motivated a strong response from club other members, including Marianina Godinho who worked as co-coordinator and contact person, generating literally bags of surprises for the families.

“When we received the letter to Santa from a single mother, we saw a real opportunity to make a difference,” said Dan. “It’s very satisfying to give back to the community that has been so supportive of us as a local business.”
