Christmas is on a Friday this year, which actually helps. It means a full week of business days right before the holiday. It also means the last few days will be packed.

Every December we watch people in Broomfield, Thornton, and Westminster pay overnight rates for something that could have gone ground a week earlier. This post exists so that isn’t you. Bookmark it, and check back once the official dates drop.

Estimated 2026 deadlines for delivery by December 25

Based on last year’s cutoffs, shifted for a Friday Christmas. Treat these as “ship by” dates, not guarantees.

Military APO/FPO addresses, Alaska, and Hawaii run about a week earlier across the board.

The rule that actually matters

Ship ground by December 12 and you’re fine. Everything after that gets more expensive by the day. Ground is cheapest, but it needs the earliest handoff. Wait until the 20th and your only options are two-day and overnight.

Save money by shipping early

  • Peak surcharges start in October. All the carriers add holiday fees, usually from early October through mid-January. Ship gifts you’ve already bought in October or November and skip some of it.
  • Ground beats air, every time. The same box that goes ground on December 10 can cost several times as much overnight on December 22.
  • One box, not three. Consolidate gifts for the same household.
  • Compare all four carriers. We ship with USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL from one counter in Broomfield, and the cheapest one changes depending on weight and destination. We’ll pull up all four for you.

Pack it right, or the deadline doesn’t matter

A box that arrives broken on December 22 isn’t on time. Quick rules:

  • New box, not a reused one.
  • Fill every gap. Shake test.
  • Anything fragile gets double-boxed.
  • Real packing tape, H-taped.

Bring it in loose and we’ll pack it for you. Supplies are on the shelf in our packing materials area.

Sending gifts overseas?

International is the one that catches people. Customs forms, restricted items, and transit times that vary by country. Ship by early December and bring the recipient’s phone number and a list of what’s inside with values. We’ll do the customs paperwork with you.

Track everything

Every package gets a tracking number. Check status anytime on our tracking page. Text the number to the recipient so they can grab it off the porch.

Skip the line

Our store in Broomfield is a lot easier than the post office in December. No lines out the door, and we can print labels, pack, and compare rates in one stop. If you’re sending a lot, drop it off and go. We’ll call you when it’s done.

Questions we get every December

What’s the last day to ship for Christmas from Colorado? For ground, plan on the week of December 14. For overnight, December 23. Check back for official dates.

Are the deadlines guaranteed? USPS dates are recommendations. UPS and FedEx air services carry money-back guarantees, but carriers can change terms during peak season. Ship early and it doesn’t matter.

Can you ship on Christmas Eve? Overnight only, and only if it’s in our hands early on the 23rd. Don’t count on it.
