Antioch, California, is located in the San Francisco Bay Area and is one of the oldest towns in California. There are four locations in Antioch listed on the National Register of Historical Places. One of these buildings is the Riverview Union High School Building, which now houses the Antioch Historical Society Museum. From June 30 to July 25, 2012, the Antioch Historical Society Museum is partnering with the Arts & Culture Foundation of Antioch to bring locals and visitors the 8th Annual Celebration of Art.
The 8th Annual Celebration of Art exhibit will be held at the Antioch Historical Society Museum. This event allows the Antioch community and artists to celebrate art and creativity. Over 50 local artists are expected to be displaying and selling art. Some of the artists have previously displayed and sold work, while for others, this event is the first time they are showing their work. This is a non-juried exhibit with no required theme, so those who visit the exhibit are sure to see a wide variety of artistic styles.
The event begins on Saturday, June 30th, with an artist reception from 2-4 PM. The exhibit continues through July 16th and will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 pm to 4 pm. Entry to the museum, the artist reception and viewing the exhibit are free.
After the Artists’ Reception on June 30th, there will be a Free Summer Concert, featuring Vocal Ease & the Boogie Men. Vocal-ease and the Boogie Men is a Bay Area band that features a variety of musical styles including Ragtime, Swing, Big Band, Boogie Woogie, classic Rock, Doo-Wop, and Motown. Held in the gazebo at the Antioch Historical Society, from 6-8 PM, guests can enjoy great music from the 1940s, ‘50s, and ‘60s. Parents can feel comfortable staying and enjoying the concert too since the music is family friendly.
If you purchase any artwork from the Celebration of Art, the AIM Mail Center in Antioch, California can help with your art shipping and packaging needs.
