It’s time for the Redondo Beach Pier’s 10th Annual Chalk Art Festival!  On Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 12-4pm, participants can expect a fun time of art and music for the whole family.  Featuring artwork from children, amateurs, and professional street painters, residents and visitors to Redondo Beach can watch the Pier become transformed into an amazing work of art.  The Festival is free and open to public viewing, so visitors can stroll along the pier, meet amazing artists, and see unique artwork. Using pastel chalks, street artists transform streets and sidewalks into incredible works of art.  With the lighting constantly changing, the artwork evolves throughout the day before being washed away by the outdoor elements.  The impermanence of the art makes it all the more intriguing. Last summer at the 9th Annual Chalk Art Festival, William Zin was the winner of the Pro category.  The theme of the Festival was "Planet Earth,” so Zin created a painting of a human baby and baby animals that represented land, ocean or the sky.  Zin will be at the Redondo Beach Pier Chalk Festival on Saturday, August 18th, so be sure to stop by and check out his work. Check out Zin’s website for more information about his unique artwork.  Along with street painting, Zin does drawings, paintings, and photography.  If you purchase any artwork at the Redondo Beach Pier, the AIM Mail Center in Redondo Beach can help with any art shipping and packaging needs.
