The South A Street Arts District (SOFA) in downtown Santa Rosa, California is a community of artists, businesses, and residents who work together to create and promote contemporary visual and performing art. SOFA is home to a number of working artists, photographers, galleries, shops, cafes and an award winning theater company. One of the unique features of the SOFA Arts District is the opportunity for the public to interact with many local artists in one convenient location.
On August 4 -5, 2012, locals and visitors to Santa Rosa can immerse themselves in the artistic culture of the SOFA Arts District at the 2nd Annual SOFA Art Walk. Spend the day browsing 28 artist studios, all conveniently located within the one-block SOFA neighborhood of downtown Santa Rosa. There will be fine art for sale in a variety of styles and media, including painting, photography and more. One of the great features of the art walk is the ability for the public to meet the artists and chat about their work. Some neighborhood galleries, including Gallery 300, The Gallery of Sea and Heaven, and Studio ISM, will be featuring special exhibits.
Along with the SOFA Art Walk, the SOFA Arts District hosts a number of events throughout the year. These events include Matsuri, a Japanese Arts Festival; Vine Art, an evening of fine art, wine, food, and music; and Winterblast, a holiday art festival. Visit the SOFA website for details about upcoming events and a list of art galleries in the SOFA Arts District.
Don’t miss this opportunity to support local Santa Rosa artists, discover new art, and enjoy
a summer evening. If you purchase any fine art, visit the Santa Rosa AIM Mail Center for your fine art shipping and packaging needs.
