Sensitive Sweets is owned and operated by Melanie Hohman, who was inspired to establish the bakery when youngest son was diagnosed with severe food allergies to wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, soy, and several fruits and vegetables. Wanting her son to at least be able to have a birthday cake, Melanie worked to develop a recipe that would not only taste good, but would also look like a birthday cake. When she was successful, Melanie decided to open Sensitive Sweets to help other people who have food allergy issues similar to her son. Sensitive Sweets opened in 2010, operating under the philosophy that “everyone deserves a treat.”
