Through the Los Alamitos Recreation & Community Services Department, Los Alamitos, CA residents have access to a wide range of programs including aquatics, sports leagues, exercise classes, arts & crafts, dance, and other special interest classes. One of the upcoming art classes offered is an 8 week Portrait Workshop with national award winning art instructor Ying Liu. Designed for students of all skill levels, the class features demos and one-on-one instruction throughout the session.
Born in China, Ying Liu was an English teacher at a university in China, and she came to the United States in 1987 to attend graduate school. After completing her studies, Liu decided to pursue her love for fine art. Expanding her range of subject matter and mediums, Liu developed an impressionist style. Despite working full-time as an IT professional, Liu continuously works to learn, create and teach fine art every chance she gets. Her paintings can be found at Studio 7 Galleries and in private collections.
Those who want to learn from Liu can sign up for one of her classes through the City of Los Alamitos, or contact her directly for private lessons. If you purchase any of Ying’s artwork, or create your own masterpiece in one of her classes, visit the Los Alamitos AIM Mail Center for help with safely packaging and shipping your artwork.
