Priority Mail® and Priority Mail Express® shipping sound similar, but there are differences between the services. The main difference is the time it takes for a package to arrive at its destination and the days a package will be delivered, such as Sundays and holiday. Learn about each service here to help you choose the right option for your package.

Priority Mail® Services

Priority Mail® ensures your item will be delivered within 1-3 days of shipping and packages can be tracked while in transit. This service offers flat-rate shipping for packages weighing up to 70 pounds and a combined length and girth of 108”. Prices for Priority Mail® are considerably cheaper as well. There is no additional charge for Saturday delivery, rural locations, or fuel surcharges. This is a great economical solution for packages that need to be delivered within a couple days. Call your local AIM Mail Center for pricing.

Priority Mail Express® Services

Priority Mail Express® services offer delivery of your package anywhere from overnight to 2 days. Overnight packages will be delivered by 10:30am the following day and delivery on a Sunday or holiday is also available for an additional fee within most major markets. The weight and size restrictions are the same as Priority Mail meaning packages can weigh up to 70 pounds with a maximum combined length and girth of 108”. The price for Priority Mail Express® is more expensive than the Priority Mail l® service. While the price is a bit higher, Priority Mail Express® offers faster delivery times with fewer restrictions on delivery dates. Call your local AIM Mail Center for pricing.

Comparing Priority Mail® and Priority Mail Express®

Both services have the same weight and size limits for packages but differ in price and delivery times. If you need your package to get there quickly, Priority Mail Express® will ensure the fastest delivery time and you’ll be able to choose Sunday or holiday delivery options. Those features do come at a premium which increases the cost of your shipment. If your shipment can be delivered within a few days, then Priority Mail® will be a considerably cheaper option.
