The Community Center of Laguna Hills, California brings artistic and recreational activities to the Laguna Hills community.  Laguna Hills residents and visitors can enjoy the rotating art exhibit, art classes, public art, and the fossil exhibit.  The Community Center also features a Sports Complex, which give community members the opportunity to play a variety of sports and relax in the picnic area. The Rotating Art Gallery features artwork from local artists and students.  Featuring artwork from a new artist each month, visitors can expect to regularly see something new and exciting.  Be sure to stop by the Community Center each month to check out the new artwork and support local artists and students. For those wanting to try creating original artwork, the Laguna Hills Community Center offers classes where artists of all ages and skill levels can create fine art projects.  Currently, the classes offered are Drawing & Painting and Ceramics.  Students who participate in the Beginning Drawing & Painting class will be taught to see line, location and value.  Those who enroll in the Intermediate & Advanced classes will get to work on technique, composition, perspective, color and design. Students have the opportunity to try out a variety of media, including colored pencil, water color, acrylic and more.  In the ceramics class, students will learn how to work with clay, learning techniques such as coiling, scoring and slab.  Visit the Laguna Hills Community Center website to sign up for classes. In 2005, the City of Laguna Hills purchased four butterfly sculptures to be painted by Laguna Hills school children and displayed throughout the City.  The project benefited the Butterfly Initiative, a fundraiser for art and science education.  Six years later, in 2011, the Butterfly Sculptures had become chipped and faded, so the City of Laguna Hills partnered with Laguna Hills High School to restore the butterfly sculptures and reinstall them outside the Community Center. Check out the Laguna Hills Community Center and remember the AIM Mail Center in Laguna Hills for any art shipping and packaging needs.
