San Jose, CA is known for being part of the Silicon Valley, an area that has a high concentration of high-technology engineering, computer, and microprocessor companies. However, San Jose, CA is also home to many performing arts companies. These companies include Opera San Jose, Symphony Silicon Valley, Children's Musical Theater of San Jose, and many more. There are many great music events hosted throughout the year, a popular one being the San Jose Jazz Festival. The San Jose Jazz Festival just completed their Winter Fest from March 9 – 11, 2012.
If you missed the Jazz festival, you can still enjoy great Jazz music every Wednesday night at 7:30 pm. And admission is free! San Jose Jazz works with three hotels, the DeAnza, the Saint Claire, and the Hilton, to bring the San Jose community great jazz music. On the first and third Wednesdays of every month, enjoy an amazing Jazz jam at the Hedley Club in the Hotel De Anza. On all other Wednesdays, there are concerts at the Hilton's Affinity Lounge or at the Sainte Claire's lovely Palm Room.
This Wednesday, March 14, 2012 John Worley and the Mo Chi Quartet is performing at the Affinity Restaurant and Bar in the Hilton San Jose Hotel. John Worley is a versatile trumpet, flugelhorn, and post horn player who has toured internationally with the Dizzy Gillespie All Star Big Band, Pete Escovedo, Quincy Jones, Louie Bellson and other legends.
On March 14, 2012 the San Jose community can have the pleasure of seeing Worley’s new group, the Mo Chi Quartet. The Mo Chi Quartet came together in 2011 with local pianist Murray Low, bassist Ken Okada, and drummer Kevin Higuchi. Their music is a unique blend of Japanese folk melodies with original Jazz compositions.
And if you see a flyer around town for Free Jazz Wednesdays, it may have come from AIMMail Centers. AIM Mail Centers offer color copying and printing services.
