Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Santa Monica Airport ArtWalk
March 15, 2012
Santa Monica, CA is home to the Santa Monica Airport, one of Los Angeles County’s oldest operating airfields. The Santa Monica Airport has a rich history. It is the former home of the Douglas Aircraft Company, whose planes completed the first circumnavigation of the world by air in 1924. The Santa Monica airport is also the birthplace of the Douglas DC-3 airliner which revolutionized air transport in the 1930s and 1940s. Over time, several historic airplane hangers have been converted into creative venues like art studios and theaters.
